Rowstel targets urban migration with a new model of community-driven living
Calicut — The annual Beat Startup Synergy 2025, held at the Malabar Marina Convention Centre, witnessed the emergence of a unique solution in India’s housing landscape. Entrepreneur Sharhabeel Parambil unveiled Rowstel, the country’s first long-term hotel chain tailored for students, professionals, and young migrants navigating India’s growing urban centres.
The startup, built around the idea of eliminating common rental pain points — such as brokers, high deposits, and rigid lease terms — stood out among other ventures for its focused mission, real-world traction, and personal story.
A ₹25 Lakh Beginning to a ₹12 Crore Reality
Sharhabeel’s journey began unconventionally. With just ₹25 lakhs in hand, he initiated a villa project that quickly gained momentum. Within a short span, 100% of its units were sold, 70% construction was completed, and the project is now valued at over ₹12 crore. That success laid the foundation for Rowstel, which adapts the same practical and scalable mindset to solve the long-stay housing crisis in Indian cities.
Solving for Migrants, Not Just Renters
Rowstel provides fully furnished, tech-enabled living spaces that prioritize comfort, affordability, and flexibility. Aimed at long-term stays, the model targets young people moving to new cities for work, education, or career growth — a segment often underserved by traditional rental systems.
“This isn’t just about rooms. It’s about dignity, community, and giving people a real shot at building their future,” said Sharhabeel during his pitch presentation.
Recognition from Industry Leaders
Mr. Sumesh, founder of the BEAT School of Business and the organizer of the Startup Synergy program, praised Sharhabeel’s vision in his opening remarks.
“A man with a vision is more strong than a normal startup founder,” said Sumesh, calling Rowstel’s concept one of the most grounded and scalable ideas presented at the event.
Sharhabeel’s practical understanding of the housing challenges faced by India’s youth, combined with his track record of project execution, earned him considerable attention at the event.
