The screenplay was locked in by July 2022, and pre-production kicked off shortly after. With Lyca Productions stepping in by September 2023, the project gained further momentum. After some financial reshuffling, Gokulam Gopalan joined as a co-producer in 2025.
Filming spanned 145 days across India, the UK, the US, and the UAE, concluding in December 2024. Impressively, Empuraan is the first Malayalam film to be released in IMAX and EPIQ formats, enhancing its cinematic grandeur.
