Producer Rajan Shahi and his daughter Ishika Shahi unveiled the official jersey of Stars Bats For Strays, a unique celebrity cricket league that fuses India’s passion for cricket with compassion for stray animals.
Cricket Meets Compassion
The launch, part of the Celeb Paw-er Play Cricket League (CPPCL), brings together celebrities, influencers, journalists, and fans to spread awareness and raise funds for animal welfare.
Rajan Shahi on the Initiative
Calling the campaign close to his heart, Rajan Shahi expressed pride in being part of a movement that blends sports with social responsibility.
“Cricket with a cause is always special. What makes this initiative even more beautiful is that it’s not just about playing a sport, it’s about sending out a message of compassion. Stray animals deserve love, care, and dignity, and if we as public figures can influence even a little change, then it’s worth it.”
Ishika Shahi’s Sentiment
Sharing her excitement, Ishika Shahi emphasized empathy as the driving force:
“For me, being part of this is about empathy. I’ve grown up around pets, and I know how much love animals give back. To see celebrities and fans unite for strays through something as loved as cricket is inspiring. This jersey today signals responsibility, and I’m proud to stand for this cause.”
CPPCL: Concept and Vision
The CPPCL, conceptualised by actor Hunar Hali and marketer-turned-former journalist Aarti Notiyal, is designed to shift perspectives on stray animals. Rather than relying on fear-driven approaches or sheltering where survival is uncertain, the league advocates scientifically informed, compassionate solutions for coexistence.
Backed by Support and Purpose
Funds raised through the tournament will go to YODA (Youth Organisation in Defence of Animals) to strengthen stray welfare. With LUFT – The Air as the Hospitality Partner, the initiative is being positioned as both a sporting spectacle and a humanitarian effort.
