Mikel Arteta has received a welcome boost as Gabriel has been declared fit for today’s Premier League showdown against Newcastle United. Arteta has made one adjustment to the lineup that faced Liverpool last Sunday, with William Saliba returning to central defense alongside Gabriel after serving a suspension.
This change sees Ben White move to the bench. White, who missed the Carabao Cup victory over Preston North End midweek due to a minor joint issue, is also available if needed.
From the team that triumphed in the Carabao Cup, only Saliba, Jurrien Timber, Mikel Merino, and Gabriel Martinelli retain their starting spots.
On the Newcastle side, Eddie Howe has opted to include Sean Longstaff and Joe Willock in the starting lineup after their standout performances in the midweek cup win over Chelsea. The pair did not start in Newcastle’s recent 2-0 league loss to Chelsea but will have a chance to make an impact today. Alexander Isak and Antony Gordon are also fit to play despite recent knocks.
