Contributing to Viksit Bharat: NIRDC’s InDApp Empowers Small Businesses

November 25, 2025 — New Delhi: In a major technological stride toward empowering India’s Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), the National Industries Research and Development Council (NIRDC) has announced the development of InDApp, a fully indigenized digital marketplace and networking hub designed to transform the way Indian businesses operate, collaborate, and expand in domestic and global markets. Positioned as India’s answer to Alibaba, the platform aims to enhance the visibility, competitiveness, and economic contribution of MSMEs in line with the national vision of Viksit Bharat.

InDApp is a comprehensive single-window digital platform backed by eight key ministries of the Government of India. It has been built to simplify business growth by consolidating access to essential services — including government schemes, funding avenues, business networking, market expansion, and skill development — all in one unified interface. The application is already available for download on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, operating on an easy subscription-based model to ensure accessibility for enterprises across regions and economic tiers.

A Platform Designed for Inclusivity, Access, and Digital Transformation

India’s MSME sector, often referred to as the backbone of the national economy, has long faced challenges related to limited market access, lack of awareness about government initiatives, and operational inefficiencies. With InDApp, NIRDC aims to break these barriers by empowering entrepreneurs — including artisans, small manufacturers, and rural traders — with a marketplace just a tap away.

Whether it is a craftsperson in a remote village or a small-scale exporter in a metropolitan industrial cluster, any registered business can now list products and services, connect with buyers and suppliers, and explore new markets across the country. The platform also provides real-time updates on policy changes, MSME-focused events, and financial assistance schemes, helping users stay ahead in a rapidly evolving business environment.

Highlighting the transformative nature of the initiative, Shambhu Singh, National Chairman of NIRDC, said:

“By integrating physical outreach with digital support, InDApp creates a seamless interface that promotes transparency, efficiency, and inclusive participation. This hybrid engagement ensures that even the smallest enterprises can access national and global opportunities while leveraging in-person and virtual avenues for growth.”

Driving Innovation and Ease of Doing Business

InDApp goes much beyond being a transactional marketplace. Its design is built around multi-sectoral utility, supporting businesses across industries such as agriculture, food processing, fisheries, manufacturing, renewable energy, and more. The app also includes tools for:

Capacity-building and training
Direct communication with policymakers and support bodies
Networking features similar to social media platforms
Guidance on exports and international market positioning
Simplified access to licenses and permissions

This strategic digital enablement aligns closely with ongoing national initiatives driving ease of doing business and formalization of MSMEs.

Lalit Varma, Vice-Chairman of NIRDC, emphasized this significant advantage:

“InDApp is a core technological innovation tailored for India. By centralizing access to information and simplifying bureaucratic navigation, the app drastically reduces the time and effort involved in utilizing government schemes and expanding business capabilities.”

Collaborative Governance: Backed by Eight Union Ministries

The platform’s rollout is underpinned by a strong inter-ministerial support framework, making it one of the first of its kind in India. Ministries integrated into InDApp’s ecosystem include:

  • Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises

  • Ministry of Commerce and Industry

  • Ministry of Food Processing Industries

  • Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare

  • Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying

  • Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change

  • Ministry of Corporate Affairs

  • Ministry of New & Renewable Energy

These institutional connections ensure consistent support, faster clearances, and wider resource availability for MSMEs operating through the platform.

The formal launch ceremony for InDApp is scheduled for 26 November, to be presided over by the Union Minister for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, further signaling the government’s strong commitment to harnessing technology for economic expansion.
